2016 Update Chapter 46

Are you ready?

Objectives:

The objective of this seminar is to present the changes required to meet the Accreditation of Commercial Environmental Laboratories regulations defined in 1VAC30-46. Laboratories in Virginia have been operating under the 2003 NELAC Standard. Assessments have been performed to this standard since the start of the Virginia program. The laboratory implementation of the 2009 TNI Environmental Laboratory standard was on November 1, 2015. The Virginia accreditation assessments for Chapter 46 are to begin September 1, 2016, to the 2009 TNI standard. Will you be ready?

The focus of this session is to present the changes to the requirements for laboratory on-site, proficiency testing, the laboratory management system and the quality control requirements. In addition an overview of the TNI programs and organization are also included.

Announcement from the Virginia Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program

The Registrar of Regulations published final 1VAC30-46 in the September 7, 2015, Virginia Register of Regulations. Final 1VAC30-46 can be found on pages 62 through 84 of this Register. http://register.dls.virginia.gov/vol32/iss01/v32i01.pdf.

This revision to 1VAC30-46, Accreditation of Commercial Environmental Laboratories incorporates by reference the 2009 TNI Standards, Volumes 1 and 2. The revised regulation becomes effective November 1, 2015. Laboratories will be assessed to the 2009 TNI Standards effective September 1, 2016 per timelines in the regulation.

Marlene Moore of Advanced Systems Inc. will be providing the training and participants will receive a certificate at the completion of the seminar. This certificate will satisfy the training requirements of the VELAP and NELAP accreditation program.
